Kurt Thompson F1 Cameraman

Kurt Thompson was born in Liverpool, England and moved to the U.S. at the age of two.  He attended Saint Petersburg Vocational-Technical Institute where he majored in Television Technician Program and studied Audio-Visual systems, video camera, lighting board and spotlights, floor directing, program production, video tape editing and script writing.

He has received the Gold Medal from the State VICA (Vocational Industrial Clubs of America) Contest for Audio and Camera Operator. Kurt was also a student at Pinellas Technical Education Centers (pTEC) where he graduated with honors. In 2011  he was awarded the Bronze Medal for State Skills USA and the Gold Medal for Regional Skills USA.

Kurt has worked with many stars over the years and on the set of many films including “Breakfast” and “The Zombie Incident”. His most memorable was working with Robert De Niro on the set of  “Once Upon a Time in America”.

He has also worked in numerous theatre productions such as “Annie” and “Fiddler on the Roof”. Some of his other work has included documentaries, commercials and sporting events. He is a “jack of all trades” in the production business and has had many titles ranging from Spotlight Operator to  Producer/Director of Photography.

Other jobs Kurt has performed include Lighting Assistant, Scene Builder, Videographer / Hi-Pod Operator, Striking Sets, Editor, Stage Manager, Grip, Stage Hand and of course Cameraman. He enjoys the unique aspects of each project he works on as each presents its own challenges and complexities in achieving a quality production.
